Summer Sunday Sounds
Sunday 3rd Feb to Sunday 31st March 4pm to 8pm
A range of Canberra’s favourite award winning musicians from the soulful Angela Lount and Wayne Kelly Duo (10, 31 March) through to the Blues & Roots of Guyy Lilleyman (3 March), indefinable Richard Perso (17 March) and the breath taking Guitar of Matt Withers (24 Feb 7 24 March). Holy Trinity of Cheesemaking, Cooking & Pairing Sun 7th and Sat 13th April 11am-2pm
Our farm to plate philosophy means bringing together the wines grown on our property, with the local produce grown and made in the region. Bridgette, our Wee Jasper Cheese Maker, will take you through making your own Mozarella and Ricotta while Tom our Chef prepares a marinated and cooked Haloumi dish, with a tasting plate of Camembert, Blue Vein, Harvati, and of course something sweet to finish. One of the Contentious Characters will explain and provide example pairings for each cheese.

Winemaker's New Release Dinners Sat 6th April & 4th May with Jeremy our Chief Winemaker, taking us through the latest releases from Contentious Character. Commencing on the deck to watch the sun set with a glass of something special in hand, before moving downstairs to our barrel room for the talk and tour of the vicissitudes of making the new releases. Numbers strictly limited to 60 to ensure a personalised experience for all. 4 courses and with paired wines. “We had our wedding reception here in late March, with a small group of friends. We chose CC because the restaurant layout is very flexible and they have the ability host smaller groups of people in separate spaces. We had our party in the covered outdoor deck overlooking the vines, and it was the perfect setting.
We also appreciated that, from our first encounter, they CC team wanted us to plan the day entirely to our own liking, and were available to discuss different solutions, as well as to support us with suggestions.
We wanted a relaxed and casual long lunch, and Tom, the Chef was very happy to prepare a menu that included dishes from the Italian tradition on our request. These included a pasta with “Trapanese” pesto and a dessert made to my mother’s recipe. Tom has previously worked in Italy and in Italian restaurants and the result fully satisfied us.
On a dedicated tasting before the reception day, we selected wines to pair with the menu, following Tony’s recommendations and our own taste.
On the day, our friends played Bocce and did some wine tasting while we wandered the vineyard having some lovely photography done.
All the way up to and on the day, the CC team made sure it was a day we'll remember always. Many thanks to all the team, in particular to Tony, Tom and Jordan."

“We had a baby shower at Contentious Character in June 2018. Jordan made the arrangements a breeze, was very accommodating and helpful. The venue was gorgeous - with everyone loving the cozy fire place - and the food and wine were amazing. Excellent value for money, and the staff were lovely. My partner and I often go to the winery for tastings and have a ball every time. We always walk out with lots of wine, and take friends there for a memorable wine tasting and experience!"
